Enable kernel device mapper writecache (dm-writecache) target module
It would be great to have the new kernel device mapper writecache
(dm-writecache) target, introduced in kernel version 4.18, available as
a module in Alpine. Currently is not included in the build.
From config-vanilla in Alpine 3.9:
# CONFIG_DM_WRITECACHE is not set
The writecache target caches writes on persistent memory or SSD. It is intended for databases or other programs that need extremely low commit latency.
The writecache target doesn’t cache reads because reads are supposed to be cached in standard RAM.
