libpurple: Server does not use any supported authentication method
Hi, I have following error on both chatty and pidgin: Server does not use any supported authentication method
Both application are using libpurple. I figured out that this is caused because xmpp server I am using support plain-text auth only and library for this (sasl-plain) is missing.
This can be easily fixed by installing sasl-plain package manually, but since it is not obvious where is the problem and it is working out of the box on other distributions (Arch, Debian), it would be nice to have it automatically installed also here,
Both Arch and Debian have single libsasl package which constains all sasl libraries, while Alpine has everything in separate packages and libpurple depends on libsasl only (not sasl-plain). The easiest solution for us IMO would be to add other sasl libraries as libpurple dependencies. What do you think?
Thanks, Jan
