rdiff-backup is version 1.3.3 while other major distros are version 1.2.8
The rdiff-backup package was updated to version 1.3.3 in 2011:
http://git.alpinelinux.org/cgit/aports/commit/?id=b633874f5c8b490cbd371338f7fb7b8f649ca009
There are currently two rdiff-backup official versions, both released in March 2009:
- 1.2.8 (stable)
- 1.3.3 (dev/unstable)
While most of the major distributions ship version 1.2.8 [1], alpine
is shipping 1.3.3, which has no major improvements.
After trying to sync files from a machine running 1.2.8 (Debian testing)
to an alpine machine running 1.3.3 ,I encountered errors due to the
versions being incompatible and the transfer was canceled.
Since most distros have version 1.2.8, I believe it’d be better if
alpine had 1.2.8 as well.
