Description
OK at least I found a manpage:
http://linux.die.net/man/1/vbetool
This tool on ubuntu lets me shut off the backlight on my laptop screen with
vbetool vbefp setbrightness 0
In alpinelinux it's always on, even if I close the laptop lid. And the BIOS is not cooperative, hangs when I try to enter, so I can't set it to APM mode or something either...

fwiw, I have disable APM completely in alpine linux kernel. Do you think it might be worth enabling it?

vbetool is in testing now. Do you think you could test it and report back?
Thanks!
